Zara Larsson is imagining a future beyond music, and her political ambitions come with a playful twist. The singer discussed the possibility of entering politics during an appearance on Las Culturistas. Her conversation even produced a potential campaign slogan inspired by her music.
Zara Larsson jokes about a possible 2048 campaign with the slogan ‘Puss Puss ’48’
During the October 7 episode, Larsson told hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang about her political aspirations. “I can see myself going into politics,” she revealed. The Midnight Sun singer also explained that Zohran Mamdani had inspired her interest.
Larsson imagined becoming “a singing Mamdani” who would prioritize ordinary people. “Someone who is just for the people and who just does good things,” she explained.
The singer indicated that Sweden’s politics would probably be her preferred direction. However, she left room for other possibilities during the conversation. “I think probably in Sweden, but who knows? Who knows? I can see that,” she said.
The discussion then turned to the possibility of a future campaign. Rogers and Yang calculated that Larsson would turn 50 in 2048. They proposed “Puss Puss ’48” as a slogan referencing her music.
The playful exchange quickly gave Larsson’s political ambitions a memorable campaign identity. Rogers even joked that he would vote for the proposed campaign. However, the conversation remained lighthearted rather than an official announcement of candidacy.
Larsson has previously expressed strong opinions about political issues. Earlier this year, she criticized the White House for using her song “Midnight Sun” in an anti-immigration TikTok video. She also called the Trump administration “f*cking losers” over the video’s message.
The White House had previously featured her hit “Lush Life” in a video showing Donald Trump dancing. Larsson responded on Instagram with a message expressing support for immigrants and LGBTQ+ people. She also criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Her latest comments connect her public activism with a hypothetical political future. Still, Larsson has not announced plans to run for office. For now, “Puss Puss ’48” remains a humorous possibility born from her podcast appearance.
