Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones have spoken out against Pete Davidson’s comments about female influencers. The Today co-hosts discussed the controversy and highlighted Davidson’s dating history, noting that he has dated influencers himself.

Speaking to Variety, Davidson discussed the significant profits made by internet influencers who regularly document their daily routines. He said, “People do really crazy sh*t on the internet. It’s bad, and it makes me sad, you know, and girls are just talking to themselves on there, and they’re like, ‘Okay, come get ready with me,’ and I’m like, ‘Who the f*ck are you? What do you do?’ Nothing. What the f*ck is this?”
The Saturday Night Live alum continued by pointing to influencers who he claimed could make “$40 million a year.” He also criticized women his age who post videos of themselves saying a phrase before performing a dance. The 32-year-old joked that he could turn to OnlyFans rather than continue with his acting and comedy career.
Now, the Today co-anchors revisited his remarks before sharing their thoughts on the issue. Jones said, “Part of the problem is he singled out women. There are male and female influencers. I don’t know if that was intentional or if he was just thinking top of mind, ‘Well, I dated Kim Kardashian.’ He’s dated influencers!”
Zuri Hall, who joined them, also noted, “Precisely. And that’s why a lot of people are saying, ‘OK, it feels a little hypocritical?’ But there’s some people who agree with him, saying things like, ‘I know this will not be perceived well, but he’s not wrong,’ and, ‘He’s right, the wrong people are famous.’ Two things can be true, but the singling out of women influencers felt… not great.” To which Hager added, “He’s dated a lot of people, some of whom have been influencers.”
Davidson has been romantically linked to several influencers over the years. One of his most high-profile relationships was with Kim Kardashian, one of the world’s most famous influencers. The two dated for nine months between 2021 and 2022 after they met when Kardashian hosted Saturday Night Live.
