KATSEYE has confirmed that Sophia Laforteza will remain away from the group for the rest of its North American tour. However, fans can expect her return in January 2027. She will take additional time to focus on her health and well-being.
KATSEYE confirms Sophia Laforteza will miss North American tour before returning in January 2027
HYBE and Geffen announced that Laforteza will resume activities with KATSEYE during the first week of January 2027. “Sophia has been prioritizing her health and well-being with our full support and resources,” the companies said.
They added, “While Sophia will not be participating in THE WILDWORLD TOUR in North America, or promotional activities for the remainder of this year, we look forward to welcoming her back as KATSEYE continues this next chapter together in 2027.”
Laforteza also addressed fans about her plans to return. She thanked them for their “patience, grace and understanding.” She added, “Your kindness during this time has given me more strength than you know.”
The singer explained that she has been receiving care and working on her well-being. “It hasn’t been easy, but I have been putting in the work by receiving the care I need, learning the tools to better support myself, and doing everything I can to nurture my well-being.”
Although she is disappointed about missing the remaining tour dates, Laforteza said she plans to use the time to continue training. “As much as I wish I could simply push through, I’ve come to understand that sometimes having the courage to take a step back is what allows you to move forward.”
Laforteza announced in August that she was stepping away from KATSEYE to prioritize her mental health and wellness. Her break followed Manon Bannerman’s temporary hiatus earlier this year.
KATSEYE, which also features Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel and Yoonchae Jeung, recently released its Wild EP. The group’s “Wildworld” tour is scheduled to continue across North America through the end of November.
