Mariska Hargitay reveals how Taylor Swift surprised the Law & Order: SVU cast with homemade cookies
Mariska Hargitay revealed that Swift arrived carrying a large box of homemade cookies. The actress shared the story while speaking with People at NBC “Dun Dun Diner.” She said Swift brought sourdough chocolate chip cookies before filming their Emmys sketch.
“Taylor Swift showed up on the set of SVU with a box this big of sourdough chocolate chip cookies,” Hargitay said to People. She admitted the cookies left a particularly strong impression on her. “They might have been the best cookies I’ve ever had,” she added.
Hargitay also described Swift’s arrival as an extraordinary introduction to the cast. “So that’s how she opened,” she explained about the singer’s thoughtful gesture. The moment added a personal touch before they began filming together.
The Taylor Swift SVU appearance eventually became part of the 2026 Emmy Awards broadcast. Swift played a rookie detective opposite Hargitay’s iconic Olivia Benson character. The sketch also featured Swift’s cat, Olivia Benson, as part of the comedy.
Hargitay said Swift was collaborative, charming, and willing to embrace every part. “She’s such a good actor and so charming and charismatic,” she said. The actress added that Swift thrilled both the cast and the entire crew.
Kelli Giddish also remembered Swift’s visit and praised her cookies. She described the treats as sourdough brown butter chocolate chip cookies. “They were so good,” Giddish said during an appearance on 3rd Hour of Today.
Giddish previously called herself “kind of a cookie snob” while discussing Swift’s baking. She said Swift earned “major points” through her homemade treats.
Swift has famously shared homemade sourdough loaves featuring playful references to her music. This time, her cookies gave the Law & Order SVU cast another reason to remember her visit.
