Kacey Musgraves Gives ‘Uncertain, TX’ a Major Makeover

Texas-based band Intocable is helping Kacey Musgraves give “Uncertain, TX,” a collaboration with Willie Nelson, a new identity. The Texas-raised singer recently teamed up with the Tejano and norteño group formed in Zapata, Texas. They released a brand-new version of the Middle of Nowhere track across the Rio Grande from Guerrero, Mexico.

As per Billboard, the new version is distinctly different from Willie Nelson’s original. Musgraves sings the recording entirely in Spanish. Intocable added its signature Tejano sound to the song’s country-and-cumbia foundation.

“Having a song with the legends of Intocable is such a thrill for me,” Musgraves said in a statement. “As a Texan, I am proud of the cultural melting pot that makes our state so great and this collaboration is such a fun example of that.”

According to Intocable lead singer Ricky Muñoz, the band immediately wanted to participate in the project.

“Growing up in Texas, I’ve always been drawn to great storytelling, and Kacey is one of the best at it, so the moment her team reached out, I was in,” Muñoz said. “The fact that this embraces our Texas roots and culture makes it even more special to me. I’m proud to be a small part of Kacey’s Spanish-speaking journey. And as a Texican… I approve this message.”

Debuting at No. 50 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with 2.4 million U.S. streams, the original “Uncertain, TX” marked a significant milestone. The song also helped Middle of Nowhere debut at No. 2 on Top Country Albums.

Meanwhile, Musgraves is taking her 34-date Middle of Nowhere Tour across North America, with Texas stops in Houston, Austin and Dallas.
