Donald Trump often makes headlines because of his remarks, but not everyone agrees with what he says, and many people have criticized him over the years. Recently, the president made another set of remarks that sparked concern, prompting Maria Shriver to raise the alarm.
Maria Shriver warned Americans after Donald Trump made controversial comments about California
The seriousness of the Iran-U.S. war is no secret. Amid all this, President Donald Trump reportedly said at a rally in Nebraska that Iran should bomb California cities such as Los Angeles and San Diego. The remarks did not sit well with California’s former first lady, Maria Shriver, who warned Americans on X after Trump made the controversial comments.
Shriver said, “This should outrage every American. This is the president of the United States telling Iran to bomb American cities. I live in Los Angeles, but that’s beside the point. Tomorrow it could be your city.”
“My fellow Americans, this is not normal. This is not funny. This behavior should ring alarm bells for us all!” she added.
If we look closely at the 80-year-old’s statement, he appeared to say, “With the war, it’s just artificial. It’s a little bit high. It’s a small price to pay … let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay.”
Maria Shriver was not the only person who appeared upset by Donald Trump’s statement. Several other prominent figures also expressed disappointment, including Karen Bass, Todd Gloria, Rob Bonta, and Governor Gavin Newsom.
This is not the first time the 70-year-old has criticized the president over his statements or policies. Clashes between the two are fairly common. We have previously seen the former first lady criticize Donald Trump over issues involving the Kennedy Center, his treatment of female journalists, his decision to ban news outlets and criticism involving the Pope.
