Fans have long heard rumors about a feud between Teri Hatcher and several of her fellow leading co-stars. However, the show also had other reported behind-the-scenes drama. During Jesse Metcalfe’s appearance on E!’s The Greatest Year in Pop Culture, the host asked him about the rumors, prompting him to address the alleged feuds among the Desperate Housewives leading ladies.
Metcalfe said, “I didn’t really have the awareness to know what was going on around me. But apparently there was a lot of drama on the show.”
“Apparently there was some in-fighting between some of our leading ladies and also some drama between our creator and some of our leading ladies. I certainly wasn’t part of that. I wasn’t really aware of it. But I know that it happened.” He added.
Talking about Desperate Housewives, several reports have highlighted alleged behind-the-scenes drama, including tensions between Teri Hatcher and the show’s other leading actresses, particularly Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross, and Felicity Huffman. The reported tensions included issues surrounding a Vanity Fair cover, salaries, and star status.
Nicollette Sheridan, who played Edie Britt on the show, also filed a $20 million lawsuit against creator Marc Cherry in 2010. The lawsuit became another part of the show’s behind-the-scenes controversy. However, in later interviews, Eva Longoria acknowledged that there were some disagreements on set but also said that the media exaggerated the catfight between the women.
Although Jesse Metcalfe has now addressed the behind-the-scenes drama, he also made clear that, according to him, Desperate Housewives will go down as one of the greatest television shows ever made. The 47-year-old actor remains proud of the series.
