Halle Berry denies Olivier Martinez’s abuse allegations involving their son Maceo
Berry’s ex-husband, whom she was married to from 2013 to 2015 before their divorce was finalized in 2023, alleged that she physically abused their son during an incident on September 26. Martinez also cited “other instances of abuse” that he claimed occurred in recent years. He claimed that Berry became upset with their son while he was playing a virtual reality game, allegedly putting him in a headlock and choking him.
A court granted Martinez a temporary restraining order against Berry after he filed a petition on October 1. Berry also shares 18-year-old daughter Nahla with her ex, Gabriel Aubry. She later asked the court to restore her and Martinez’s 50/50 custody agreement. The arrangement was originally put in place in August 2023. The Monster’s Ball star, who made history as the first Black woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress, filed a declaration in court on October 5.
As per People, she stated, “I have never physically, emotionally, or otherwise abused Maceo. I am a victim of domestic violence, and I help victims of domestic violence.” She denied the allegations, saying that she was not a perpetrator of violence and would never hurt their child.
Berry also provided video evidence that she said directly contradicts her ex-husband’s version of events. She said, “My text messages to Olivier reflect my distress after Maceo became physically aggressive toward me, not any physical conduct by me toward Maceo.”
