Meghan Markle has made a new connection with another celebrity neighbor in the UK. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to Britain in August after spending six years in the US. Lauren Silverman recently opened up about “relating” to Markle when it comes to public scrutiny.
Simon Cowell’s fiancee Lauren Silverman shares her connection with Meghan Markle
Simon Cowell’s fiancee, Lauren Silverman, who legally changed her surname to Cowell in 2024, revealed that she connected with Meghan Markle over a Zoom call. She told The Sun, “I definitely feel a lot of, I don’t want to say similarities, but I can relate to her in a lot of ways.” She said they have also discussed “some charity work stuff” and share an interest in children’s online safety.
Silverman lives in a farmhouse in the Chipping North area of the Cotswolds with her music mogul fiance. Markle has also moved with Prince Harry and their kids, Archie and Lilibet, to the Cotswolds. Both have been vocal about the safety of children on online platforms.
The 50-year-old faced intense public scrutiny and backlash in 2013 when news broke that she was pregnant with Simon Cowell’s child while still being married to Andrew Silverman. The Duchess of Sussex also became the subject of similar scrutiny after marrying into the British royal family.
Silverman actively supports Raise The Age. For context, a UK campaign urging a social media ban for under-16s unless the platforms prove that they are safe for children. She is currently executive producing a drama that tells the story of Ellen Roome, a British mother whose 14-year-old son Jools passed away in April 2022. His death may have links to an online challenge.
Roome has since advocated for grieving parents to have access to their kids’ digital data. Now, Silverman is bringing Roome and her son’s story to everyone’s screens through the show she has sold to ITV.
