Donald Trump’s FBI director Kash Patel had one more major role to add to his résumé: a fiancé. Patel and country singer Alexis Wilkins announced their engagement Sunday, turning their years-long relationship into wedding plans.
The couple shared the news with a playful photo and an even more playful caption. Wilkins showed off her ring beside Patel, while the FBI director reposted the announcement as their relationship entered its next chapter.

On X, Wilkins announced the engagement with the caption, “Went and got the law involved.” The joke neatly referenced Patel’s law-enforcement career, while her photo made the engagement official. Patel also reposted her announcement. The Associated Press reported that Wilkins, 27, and Patel, 46, had dated since before his 2025 appointment as FBI director. She attended his swearing-in ceremony, making their relationship part of the public spotlight early in his tenure.
The relationship began after they met at a friend’s event in Nashville, Tennessee. Wilkins later discussed their first meeting on The Megyn Kelly Show. She also revealed that part of her childhood took place in England and Switzerland, though she mainly grew up in Arkansas. Wilkins built a career across country music and political commentary. Her LinkedIn profile described her as a country artist and performer, while she released her debut album, Grit, in April 2023. Her website said she “honors country tradition while adding relevance and current commentary.”
Their public life had not always focused on romance. Patel faced criticism over government aircraft travel, including an FBI jet trip to State College, Pennsylvania. Wilkins performed the national anthem at the wrestling event and later shared photos showing the couple with an oversized golden championship belt.
Wilkins also performed at Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair on the National Mall for America 250. The appearance followed other artists pulling out after learning the event was not a non-partisan celebration. Now, after standing beside Patel at his FBI swearing-in, Wilkins had another formal occasion ahead. This time, the country singer and FBI director would be standing together at the altar.
