Prince William Confronted by Former Customer From His ‘Dodgy’ Past

Prince William got an unexpected reminder of his childhood during a royal visit to Wales. One local resident revealed that he had once been a customer of the future king’s childhood CD business. The lighthearted reunion prompted William to joke about his days as a young CD salesman at what he called a “dodgy car boot sale.”

Prince William had a hilarious reunion with a man who once bought a CD from his childhood stall

William visited Skenfrith in Monmouthshire on Oct. 1 to meet residents and discuss flooding and conservation efforts. However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when Rod Wyatt approached him.

According to People, Wyatt reminded William that they had met years earlier at the Glanusk Estate.

“You sold me a CD from a bric-a-brac stall,” Wyatt told him. After a brief pause, William recalled the encounter. He jokingly described the setup as a “dodgy car boot sale.”

Wyatt then asked whether William still sold CDs. The Prince of Wales laughed and admitted that the business venture had “dried up a bit.” Still, he joked that perhaps he should reopen it.

Wyatt and his wife, Helen, could no longer remember which CD they purchased. William, however, clearly remembered spending time around the estate.

Glanusk Estate is the family home of Tiggy Legge-Bourke, who became nanny to William and Prince Harry in the 1990s. That connection likely explains how the young royal ended up helping at the stall.

The story offers another glimpse into Prince William’s childhood before his life became dominated by official royal duties.

Recent accounts have also revisited how close William and Harry once were as children. A former palace employee recalled the brothers being “inseparable” growing up.

William’s Welsh visit had a more serious purpose, though. He met local communities affected by flooding and joined conservation volunteers collecting seeds. Nevertheless, his surprise reunion provided an unusually playful piece of royal news.

Apparently, before becoming the Prince of Wales, William could also add part-time CD salesman to his résumé.
