Kelly Clarkson has made it clear how she feels about dating. The three-time Grammy winner, known for her powerful vocals, said, “I love my life right now.” The singer is a mother to two children, River Rose, 12, and Remington Alexander, 10, whom she shares with her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.
The couple was married from 2013 to 2022, with Clarkson filing for divorce in 2020. Blackstock died in August 2025 following a private battle with cancer.
Kelly Clarkson is ‘unwilling’ to give up her time for dating
During her appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, she discussed the topic with hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang. The 44-year-old said, “My kids right now, I think there’s a lot behind that, but I think that would rock their boat a little bit. And honestly, this is not a bullsh*t answer. I love my life right now. Like, it just got to where I am not exhausted at every point of it.”
“I feel like if you’re going to be in a relationship, you have to be willing to give some of your time up. And I am unwilling,” she added, and then discussed the time she spends with her children. She described, “We’re having fun, and we’re, you know, we’re cooking, we’re playing games. I’m there at pickup, or I’m there dropping off. I’m there.”
Her comments come shortly after The Kelly Clarkson Show aired its final episode on August 31. The show wrapped up its seven-season run after premiering in 2019. On February 2, she announced the show would end via an Instagram post. She wrote, “I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ both in Los Angeles and New York. There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons.”
The singer mentioned the decision would allow her to “prioritise” her children. She said, “This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.’ Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”
