Ryan Murphy has completed a script for a potential Glee revival. The creator also contacted around 10 members of the Glee original cast. Murphy said those conversations have been encouraging so far.

Murphy shared the update while attending the premiere of American Horror Story. He revealed that he had completed the script shortly before speaking with Entertainment Tonight.
“Well, funny you ask, because I just finished the script an hour ago,” Murphy said. He confirmed that a script now exists for the potential Glee reboot.
Murphy wrote the project with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. The trio previously worked together on the show’s first two seasons. Murphy said they created new material for a possible return.
He also revealed that he contacted approximately 10 members of the Glee cast. Murphy said, “It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions.” He added that the actors were “very enthusiastic” about the idea.
However, Murphy has not shared the Glee revival script with those actors. He explained, “Nobody’s read it. So I don’t know, we’ll see.” He wants to develop several scripts before moving forward.
Murphy said he wants to hear what people think, especially the original cast. He explained, “We were very close when we were making it.” The creator said he would wait and see how the project develops.
The Glee revival follows earlier comments Murphy made about revisiting the musical series. He previously said the show had “come back around” with younger viewers. Murphy also described his nostalgia and love for the series.
The original Glee cast included Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, and Amber Riley. Chris Colfer, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, and Heather Morris also starred. The series ran for six seasons from 2009 through 2015.
Murphy has not confirmed that the Glee reboot will officially move forward. For now, he has a completed script and has spoken with around 10 former cast members. His latest comments provide the clearest update yet on a potential return.
