Mama June’s late daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s widower, Eldridge Toney, says his family had a terrifying close call after a bullet tore through their home while his newborn baby was inside. The shooting reportedly happened around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday after someone was allegedly going through vehicles parked outside the house.
According to Eldridge, the person was scared off when the car alarms went off and then fired at the home while the children were inside. The bullet reportedly went through the nursery wall, passed directly through the baby’s crib and eventually stopped in clothing kept inside a closet. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Eldridge said the frightening incident could have ended much worse, considering his newborn, Walker Stone Toney, was inside the home when the bullet tore through the crib. He told TMZ, “It’s just crazy one of us could have been killed. We definitely had people upstairs looking out for us!”
Eldridge said he filed a police report and thanked Baldwin police for quickly apprehending a suspect. However, he says he does not know who the person is or why the home was allegedly targeted.
The shooting comes just weeks after Eldridge Toney and his fiancée, Jessie English, welcomed their first child together. The couple’s son, Walker, was born on Aug. 28 at 1:49 p.m. English announced his arrival on Instagram, writing, “He is his daddy’s twin for sure ??.”
The couple had announced their pregnancy in January. Their baby news came nearly three years after Toney’s late wife, Anna Cardwell, died at 28 in December 2023 following her stage 4 adrenal carcinoma diagnosis earlier that year.
Toney and English got engaged in December. Meanwhile, Toney has continued to maintain a close relationship with Anna’s daughters, Kylee and Kaitlyn.
Thankfully, everyone survived the shooting unharmed. As Eldridge put it, “Talk about a guardian angel.”
