Real Housewives of Orange County couple Shane Simpson and Emily Simpson addressed tensions in their marriage during the September 17 episode. Shane said, “I find myself making a lot of sacrifices for the household. And Emily can kind of do her thing. And I wish she would recognize that a little bit more.”
Shane made the remarks after Emily returned home from a volatile girls’ trip to Vicki Gunvalson‘s home.
Despite their date night last month, the couple continued to work through issues in their relationship. Emily acknowledged that they still have work to do.
According to Bravo, Emily said, “Having the date night and being honest and communicating with one another was good. Is it easy? Did it fix everything? No. It’s a marriage. It’s a journey.”
Emily also said she was hurt by Shane’s comments about being a stay-at-home dad during their date. She added, “Shane’s so defensive in anything that I say. And that’s hurtful, because you’re insinuating that you’re the only person that takes care of the kids, and that I don’t contribute. He does that a lot. And I feel like that’s where we are in our relationship. I just want it to be better.”
Earlier, Shane and Emily discussed his adjustment to spending more time at home with their children. During their date, Shane said, “It’s challenging at times. I’m juggling the three kids with school and everything. You don’t understand. I feel that Emily is unaware that I could use a break once in a while. That’s the frustrating part.”
Shane has previously said that Emily does not value his contributions enough, while Emily acknowledged that she needs to change how she treats him.
Despite their issues, the RHOC Season 20 trailer shows the couple saying they have worked through the tensions in their marriage.
