Tom Hardy is clearing up rumors about his future on MobLand Season 3. He says he was not fired and did not leave the Paramount+ crime drama, and he will return for the third season. The rumors grew after reports suggested there was tension behind the scenes.
Tom Hardy denies he was fired from MobLand and addresses reports of behind-the-scenes tensions ahead of Season 3
Hardy addressed the reports while speaking to AP News Entertainment on Thursday. He said there was no major fallout behind the scenes.
“There was no firing, there was no walking away and there was no arguments in that aspect.” He continued, “I just kept my head down and waited, carried on talking to the grown-ups, which is what we just do. So I don’t really have anything to say about that.”
The show was renewed earlier this month ahead of its Season 2 premiere. Hardy will return as Harry da Souza, the loyal fixer for the crime family. Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren are also returning as the family’s leaders.
The renewal came months after reports claimed Hardy was facing problems with showrunner and executive producer Jez Butterworth and 101 Studios. Hardy said, “It’s gutting when you see that being played out in a way that you can’t really have any control over it.” He also confirmed that he and Mirren are friends. “You just have to let people do their thing.”
Mirren also dismissed the idea of serious tension between the cast. She said, “We’re professionals, we get on with it. We love each other, we support each other.” She also added, “We love the show. We want the show to be its very best.”
Brosnan also defended Hardy and praised his work. He said, “I love the man. I mean, honest to God, I really, I’ve watched this fella work forever, and it’s just so captivating, spellbinding, sharp as a knife, lethal. It was a bit of a storm in a teacup.”
MobLand returns for Season 2 on Sept. 18. Season 1 is currently available to stream on Paramount+.
