Minka Kelly shares an emotional farewell to Ransom Canyon after Netflix canceled the Western romance after two seasons
Just Jared reports that Kelly took to Instagram following the news and reflected on her time playing Quinn O’Grady opposite Josh Duhamel’s Staten Kirkland.
“Appreciating this little trip down memory lane as we say farewell,” Kelly wrote alongside a video montage from the series. “All good things must come to an end. And so it is.”
She added, “Thank you all for giving us two beautiful seasons! I love you forever my Ransom Canyon family!!”
Based on Jodi Thomas’ bestselling novels, Ransom Canyon blended elements of Virgin River and Yellowstone. The series followed several ranching families in the Texas Hill Country. Kelly played Quinn O’Grady, whose slow-burn romance with ranch owner Staten Kirkland became central to the storyline. Their relationship endured grief, family obligations and competing dreams.
Kelly played a former concert pianist who returned to her hometown to open a dance hall. Her character quickly became one of the emotional anchors of the series. In Season 2, Quinn appeared to find a more positive future. After years of uncertainty, Quinn and Staten finally committed to each other. At the same time, Quinn received a major career opportunity that forced her to reconsider her priorities.
Despite developing a niche fanbase, the show struggled to retain viewers. Netflix canceled the series after Season 2 drew 4.1 million views in its first week, down 43% from Season 1’s 7.2 million. It spent only three weeks in Netflix’s Top 10. Netflix also reduced Season 2 to eight episodes from 10 as part of a creative overhaul.
