Ken Jennings explains why he feels personally affected by political changes
While appearing on Who’s With Me? with W. Kamau Bell’s podcast, Ken Jennings shared his views about political changes.
Jennings said, “I mean the stuff that affects me and my family, you know, like that actually, like, law enforcement kidnapping my neighbors that affects me. My trans friends and family, like, uh, not having the same rights they did. Women not having the same health rights they did for 50 years. Like these things actually affect me.”
He also admitted that he should have thought more before posting things on Twitter. However, he now avoids making comments that might provoke people.
He said, “I really do think, like, I don’t say things just to, like, piss off an imaginary villain who disagrees with me. You know, that’s a bad way to post. But like if you say, for example, like here’s the kind of candidate I think uh the opposition party should nominate next time because here are the problems we face, like, that’s my right as a citizen, you know.” Jennings also emphasized that expressing his opinion is a high right as a citizen.
The host said, “As I said, it really means a lot to see when I’ve seen you say things about ICE and trans rights and things like that.”
Jennings explained that he does not view his political comments as a “soapbox” or as a performance for an audience.
Jennings added, “It’s not a soapbox, and it’s not performative. No, I’m just a person.” He focuses on speaking about issues that directly affect him, his family, and people close to him. His comments come as he continues to speak about political and social changes that he believes have affected his community.
