Spencer Pratt has found another reason to celebrate at Jimmy Kimmel’s expense, even though ABC disputes the latest cancellation rumor. The former Los Angeles mayoral candidate jumped on speculation about Jimmy Kimmel Live! and turned it into another round of their public feud.
Spencer Pratt mocks Jimmy Kimmel as ABC denies rumors about the late-night host’s future
Pratt reacted after Page Six reported that Kimmel’s late-night show could end when his current contract expires in May 2027. “Newsom AND Kimmel gone next year?? Be still, my laughing heart! Things are looking UP fam,” Pratt wrote on X, according to TMZ.
The jab also targeted California Gov. Gavin Newsom. However, ABC quickly pushed back on the cancellation rumors.
“This information is inaccurate,” an ABC Entertainment spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly. “Any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative.” That distinction matters. Jimmy Kimmel remains under contract through May 2027, and ABC has not announced the end of Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
Pratt’s reaction comes with plenty of history behind it. During Pratt’s unsuccessful Los Angeles mayoral campaign, Kimmel repeatedly mocked his candidacy. In May, the host questioned Pratt’s qualifications and urged voters to support someone else.
Kimmel later celebrated Pratt’s June primary loss with a U-Haul joke. Pratt had previously threatened to leave Los Angeles if Karen Bass or Nithya Raman won. Pratt then fired back with footage of his home, which the 2025 Pacific Palisades fire destroyed.
The tension continued. More recently, Pratt attacked Kimmel over Molly McNearney’s account of their workplace romance. Now, Pratt appears happy to treat the newest rumor as another point in their feud.
Kimmel, meanwhile, is returning for Season 24. The show premiered in 2003 and has made him one of late-night’s longest-serving hosts.
For now, Pratt may be celebrating early. ABC says no final decision about Kimmel’s future has been announced.
