Lindsay Clancy’s Lawyer Just Made a Shocking Public Plea to Donald Trump

Lindsay Clancy’s attorney publicly asked Donald Trump to pardon his client after her murder trial ended in a mistrial. The extraordinary request came after jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict in the Massachusetts case.

Clancy faced three murder charges over the deaths of her young children. Her defense argued that postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder affected her actions, while prosecutors maintained she had remained in control.

During an interview with George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America, attorney Kevin Reddington directly appealed to Trump. “Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady and the person she is, what she’s been through, and consider a pardon,” he said. Reddington’s plea followed the mistrial in Clancy’s Massachusetts case. Prosecutors had accused her of strangling her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months.

After the alleged killings, Clancy attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window. She survived but was left paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. The defense entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. Reddington argued that Clancy experienced postpartum psychosis alongside bipolar disorder when the deaths occurred.

Prosecutors offered a sharply different account. They argued Clancy understood what she was doing and had demonstrated planning before the alleged killings. According to the prosecution’s case, she sent her husband out on an errand shortly before the children died. The jury ultimately could not reach the unanimous decision required for a verdict, leading the judge to declare a mistrial.

Despite the dramatic pardon request, Trump could not simply erase the case. A presidential pardon applied to federal offenses, while Clancy’s prosecution remained a state matter in Massachusetts. Trump had previously acknowledged following the trial. On Friday, he described the case as “a shame,” calling it a “horrible tragedy” and a “terrible situation.”

Reddington’s public appeal therefore appeared unlikely to produce an immediate legal solution. Still, the attorney used the national spotlight to highlight his argument about Clancy’s mental state. The case remained unresolved after the mistrial, leaving prosecutors with decisions ahead. Meanwhile, the extraordinary request for a Lindsay Clancy pardon added another dramatic chapter.

The tragedy also continued to draw attention to severe postpartum mental health struggles and the importance of seeking immediate support during a crisis.
