Angie Katsanevas opened up about her separation from Shawn Trujillo after their shock split made headlines. The RHOSLC star revealed that their romantic relationship had changed, but their deep family bond remained firmly intact.
The couple had reportedly separated after 27 years of marriage, sharing a teenage daughter and their Lunatic Fringe Salon business. Now, Katsanevas said viewers would see their relationship unfold when the upcoming season arrived.
Despite their split, Angie Katsanevas says Shawn Trujillo is still her family and best friend
Speaking exclusively to Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea,” Katsanevas confirmed that “there are some separations” coming during Season 7. She teased that fans would “watch it all play out” when the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City returned.
Katsanevas, 52, said she had been surprised by the intense curiosity surrounding her personal life. “The viewers fall in love with you, and your family, and your story,” she told the outlet. Multiple sources previously told the publication that Katsanevas and Trujillo, 55, had separated in July. The couple married in 1999 and shared 15-year-old daughter Elekra. They also continued to share ownership of Lunatic Fringe Salon.
Despite the split, Katsanevas emphasized that Trujillo remained central to her life. “Shawn and I are business partners, we’re family, we’re husband and wife of 30 years, we’re best friends,” she said. She added that they were “loving parents” who had built their lives together. The couple planned to continue working through their future while discussing their relationship on the show.
Their daughter also appeared to be adjusting well. Katsanevas said “nothing has changed for her,” explaining that Elekra remained surrounded by loving and supportive parents. However, the same support had not come from every RHOSLC castmate. Katsanevas praised Heather Gay and Mary Cosby for being there, while saying she had not heard from Lisa Barlow or Meredith Marks.
The tension grew after Barlow shared a romantic photo with husband John following the separation news. Marks also posted cryptically about the “irony in karma,” which fans interpreted as shade. Katsanevas called the timing “poor” and “heartless.” She argued that castmates should support families during difficult moments, especially when children were involved.
RHOSLC returned September 16 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo, with episodes streaming the following day on Peacock.
