Miriam Margolyes Under Fire for Using Offensive Slang On-Air

Miriam Margolyes is widely recognized for her award-winning acting career and is also known for her comedy, particularly her use of satire and words. However, the actress recently came under fire for using offensive slang on air.

Miriam Margolyes sparked backlash after making an awkward remark about Andi Peters’ skin color on This Morning

Recently, 85-year-old Miriam Margolyes appeared on This Morning on Thursday, during which she made a comment about Andi Peters that sounded like racism.

For context, “High yaller” or “High yellow” is a slang term used in the nation’s history and within the Black community, and the term is considered offensive. This is why netizens appeared upset and lashed out at the British-Australian comedian and writer.

One user on X wrote, “Embarrassing watching her question him like she’s the knowledgeable one educating him.”

Another added, “What a revealing clip. Her true racist colours on full display,” one more joined, “Disgusting, foul act of racism.”

“What a repulsive racist she is The whole cute sweary old lady thing is pure lazy nastiness,” one of the X users wrote.

One X user sounded too angry, writing, “Every time I see her, she’s horrible, just horrible. I have never understood why the British media walks on eggshells with her.”

“I have found Margolyes annoying for a long time. This is plain racism. Not ok,” another X user commented.

The tweets from users did not stop there, as several people continued to call her racist, while others expressed their anger toward her. Some users also praised Andi Peters for handling the situation well, but most of the criticism appeared to target Miriam Margolyes.

For context, this is not the first time the Harry Potter star has faced criticism or come under fire over a statement. It has happened twice before as well.

During a BBC Radio 4 interview, the comedian referred to Charles Dickens’ character Fagin as Jewish and vile. On another occasion, Miriam Margolyes also made a statement suggesting that Adolf Hitler won by turning Jewish people, with people taking offense at her comparison between Israel and Nazi Germany.
