Kehlani has canceled two upcoming concerts after a sudden illness sent the singer to the hospital. The 31-year-old musician shared the news with fans on Wednesday, Aug. 26. She said severe pain made it difficult for her to swallow. The cancellations affect two stops on her North American tour.

Kehlani shared the update in an Instagram post. “After two off days feeling completely normal, I’ve been up all night unable to swallow & in so much pain,” she wrote. “I just left the hospital & am not cleared to sing for the next two shows. I’m so sorry.” She did not provide any further information on her disease.
The canceled shows include dates in Camden and Washington, D.C. “Camden & DC. My team is working on a solution,” Kehlani wrote. She added, “Breaks my heart to have to ever do this.” The singer also said, “I do everything I’m supposed to to ensure my health stays up to par & it still isn’t guaranteed.”
Kehlani currently performs on the North American leg of her self-titled world tour. She will next perform at the Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront in Richmond, VA. The concert will take place on Saturday, Aug. 29.
The two-time Grammy winner recently spoke about her health and wellness in a Billboard cover story published Aug. 20. Kehlani discussed the routine she follows while managing her bipolar disorder diagnosis. “I take medicine,” she told the outlet. She also spends time on exercise, yoga, walks, nature, prayer and her relationship with God.
Kehlani explained why she relies on that routine while working in music. “You get in this cycle where you wake up at 6 p.m. because you were at the studio until 7 a.m.,” she said. “You’ve missed a whole day of sunshine. There’s no meal.” She added, “I have to have a routine supporting my wellness so I can freaking survive.”
Kehlani has not released more details about the illness that caused the latest cancellations. Her team continues to work on a solution for the Camden and Washington, D.C., dates. For now, the singer plans to continue her tour in Virginia.
