Deadline reported that Bargatze launched No Pictures after setting a Guinness World Record for stand-up ticket sales. The comedian created the label for projects that explore darker and more mature territory.
The unusual name has a personal connection to Bargatze’s family. His daughter Harper once jokingly told him, “No pictures, please,” when she was younger.
Lawrence Grey joined the expanding business as Chief Content Officer. He will oversee both No Pictures and the family-focused Nateland Entertainment.
Bargatze praised Grey’s experience and ambitious approach to the growing company. “Lawrence has developed some of the biggest movies in the world,” Bargatze told the publication.
He added that Grey knows how to turn promising ideas into projects. Bargatze also teased that audiences could expect some unexpected announcements soon.
Grey brings considerable Hollywood experience to the Nate Bargatze new project. He previously worked at Scott Rudin Productions, Fox Searchlight Pictures and Universal.
His credits include Juno, Lights Out, Yes Day, Pain Hustlers and Family Switch. Grey also produced The Man with the Bag, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alan Ritchson.
Meanwhile, Nateland already has several major projects moving forward. The comedy Fantasy Camp landed at Amazon MGM/UA after a competitive bidding war.
The company is also preparing Nateville, an adult animated series for Netflix. Sources compared the show to Bargatze’s own version of King of the Hill.
Grey called Bargatze’s growing entertainment empire “an amazing brand” with enormous potential. He said the team wanted to explore new frontiers and build a lasting legacy.
The Nate Bargatze controversy may have fueled recent conversation around the comedian. However, his latest announcement shows that his business ambitions continue moving full speed ahead.
