Jimmy Fallon has an unexpected and hilarious theory about Melania Trump, who has spent nearly a month away from the public eye. She has not appeared alongside her husband, President Donald Trump, in 29 days. Her absence has sparked questions about where she could be. Fallon has now joked about one possible explanation.

During the Aug. 17 episode of The Tonight Show, Fallon joked that Melania may have “ran off” with another political figure who has also been missing from the spotlight: Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell.
Fallon brought up Melania’s absence while discussing President Donald Trump’s recent campaign stop in Long Island, which she did not attend.
“People have noticed she’s been laying low,” Fallon said, pointing out that Melania had not been seen publicly for 29 days.
The 51-year-old comedian then turned the situation into a joke. He imagined Trump responding to the news by saying he had not seen his wife privately “for two years.”
Fallon also joked that Melania may be keeping her distance because of the current political situation. He then referenced Trump’s recent attempt to hide inside a catering truck as part of a reported security measure linked to an assassination threat from Iran.
“You never know!” Fallon said before joking that Melania could have run off with McConnell.
According to a recent Daily Beast report, Melania has made just 38 public appearances this year. Her most recent public appearance was at the FIFA World Cup final with Trump on July 19. Since then, she has skipped several political events, including Sen. Lindsey Graham’s funeral.
McConnell has also remained largely absent from public life. The 84-year-old senator was hospitalized in June after suffering a fall and pneumonia. He later left a rehabilitation facility and said he would continue recovering while working from home.
For now, Fallon’s Melania-McConnell theory remains a late-night joke. However, it has drawn more attention to their recent absences from public view.
