Ben Affleck marked his 54th birthday with a quiet family outing in Santa Monica. The actor was seen spending some time with his kids, Fin and Samuel, while his ex-wife Jennifer Garner was also spotted at the same outing.
The event was organized weeks after Affleck’s mother, Chris Anne Affleck, died. During a challenging period, the family has been supporting one another.

Affleck visited Farmshop with Fin and Samuel, according to photos obtained by the Daily Mail. He wore a striped shirt, dark pants, and sunglasses for the casual outing. Garner also appeared at the Santa Monica market, although photographers did not capture the former couple together. Affleck and Garner also have a daughter together, Violet, who was not on the outing.
The birthday marked Affleck’s first appearance since his mother died on June 2 at age 83. Chris was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2025 and given six months to live. She wanted to see her grandson graduate from high school, and she attended the graduation on May 31. Two days later, Chris passed away quietly in her sleep.
After graduating from Harvard, Chris embarked on a long career as a public school teacher. She also taught literacy classes in Mississippi during Freedom Summer in 1964 and became involved in civil rights movements. Ben previously praised his mother’s work and education, saying she taught fifth and sixth grade in a public school. She additionally introduced him to casting supervisor Patty Collins to help him start his acting career.
Affleck and Garner have continued to support their children together since their marriage ended in 2015. Garner previously praised Affleck as an “incredible co-parent” in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Affleck also praised Garner, calling her a “really good co-parent and partner” and saying they work well together. Their latest family outing again showed their focus on co-parenting as Affleck continues to grieve his mother’s death.
