After nearly a decade of marriage, Abby Elliott and Bill Kennedy are heading for divorce. Kennedy, who shares two children with The Bear star, has now responded to Elliott’s filing. He is seeking spousal support as the divorce proceedings move forward.

Kennedy, a television writer, is requesting spousal support from Elliott as their divorce proceedings continue. He is also seeking joint legal and physical custody of their two children, Edith and William.
In addition, Bill is asking the court to deny Elliott any spousal support. He wants her to cover his legal fees as well. He is also seeking equal legal and physical custody of their two children, reports TMZ.
In her divorce filing, Elliott cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation. She stated that the couple separated on July 8. Kennedy has asked the court for more time to determine which assets and debts belong solely to him.
In his filing, he said the details remain “unknown at this time.” Kennedy is also asking the court to deny Elliott spousal support and wants her to cover his attorney’s fees.
In December 2025, Elliott graced the cover of Parents alongside her children. She reflected on her path to parenthood with Kennedy and spoke about undergoing IVF. She said, “It wasn’t working. We never got pregnant naturally.
So we went to a clinic, and they told us, ‘After all the tests, you guys have to go straight to IVF,’ and specifically ICSI, which is where sperm is directly injected into the egg. Because we had that information, that saved us a lot of time, blood, sweat, and tears.”
