Lucy Davis has received a shower of supportive messages after she revealed that she is living with Stage 4 breast cancer. The actor who played Dawn Tinsley in the original British rendition of “The Office” has received responses from Jenna Fischer and Ricky Gervais.
Jenna Fischer and Ricky Gervais shared support to co-star Lucy Davis after cancer diagnosis
Davis revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer more than a year ago. Unfortunately, the cancer has spread to her bones, including her spine, right hip, and ribs. “The cancer is incurable, and too late for chemo,” she wrote, adding that she almost ignored the tiny hard spot she first noticed.
“Don’t ignore anything – get everything checked out,” she wrote, urging her fans and followers not to ignore any signs or symptoms. Though she faces an uncertain future, the actress has planned to approach it with humour and peace. She wrote, “I’m not scared of whatever comes next. I’m at peace with it. I’ll see my Gracie sooner than expected, and for me, leaving my physical body just means going home. Any and all grieving is for my family; it’s far harder for them than for me.”
Davis has also revealed that she intends to keep working as an actress and an animal advocate. She also expressed that her acting career is one of the “biggest joys in my life”.
Her message drew a heartfelt response from Jenna Fischer, who played Pam Beesly in the American version of “The Office”. Fischer is also a fellow breast cancer survivor. She wrote, “Beautiful post. Love you lots. Let’s spread that message far and wide! How working is such a comfort!”
Page Six has reported that Ricky Gervais also reacted with a red heart emoji. Other colleagues joined in as well, including Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright, who wrote, “Love you, Lucy. Always. See you very soon.”
In her post, Davis emphasized that humor has been the most vital part of coping with the illness. She has asked loved ones not to treat her as a sick person – something that gives her comfort.
