Miller, 43, was charged with failing to drive on the right side. Court documents showed the charge was filed Monday, August 10. The crash happened on June 17 in Jasper County, Missouri. According to an accident report shared by Yahoo, Miller drove a 2023 Ford Bronco. The SUV crossed the center line and struck a semi-tractor-trailer. Miller was ejected from the vehicle during the collision.
He suffered several injuries in the devastating crash. Those injuries included multiple fractures and broken ribs. Miller was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to PEOPLE, doctors performed multiple surgeries following the accident, and Miller ultimately lost his left arm because of his injuries. He later shared details about his recovery publicly. A hearing on the misdemeanor charge is scheduled for September 21. It will take place in Jasper County Circuit Court. The case remains ongoing.
Authorities said 26 complaints had been filed against the ESPN analyst. Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway confirmed the complaints. She said the investigation could be lengthy because of numerous transactions.
The allegations became public after Miller’s sister-in-law launched a fundraiser. The GoFundMe campaign supported Miller’s recovery following his accident. Donations reportedly exceeded $50,000 before being paused.
Miller addressed the allegations in an interview with The Athletic. He said his lawyers advised him to limit his comments. He also said he had contacted winners from the previous season.
Miller joined ESPN in 2021 as an NFL Draft contributor. He became a year-round analyst the following year. His on-air debut came during the 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City.
