Baldwin, 42, shared the moment on Instagram Saturday, August 8, while relaxing in bed beside one of her children. She laughed while explaining that the comment took her around a minute and a half to understand.
The comment called her “vacuous,” which meant empty, lacking ideas, or showing no intelligence. Baldwin admitted that she initially read the word as “vivacious,” making the supposed insult sound much nicer.
“POV: you have to do a google search before you can even be offended by the hate comment,” she wrote. “Whatever, my dyslexia and ADHD read that as vivacious anyways.”
PEOPLE reported that Baldwin had discussed her ADHD and dyslexia publicly. In her 2025 book, Manual Not Included, she wrote that the diagnoses “greatly impact my speech, my reading, my listening, my focus, my memory and my self-confidence.”
Baldwin also explained that her neurodivergence had affected how she processed conversations and expressed herself. She said she had spent years feeling like she needed to appear “normal” despite experiencing differences in learning and processing.
She also connected ADHD to her history with eating disorders during a conversation with Page Six Radio. Baldwin said she experienced anorexia, bulimia, overeating and undereating during roughly 20 years of struggles.
“We get very hyperfocused on certain things,” Baldwin said, explaining that the tendency eventually helped her focus on finding solutions. She said she learned not to fear food and to eat amounts her body could manage.
Baldwin also said she wanted to heal those struggles before having children. She shares seven children with Alec Baldwin and wanted to avoid passing her habits forward.
For now, though, one Instagram troll accidentally gave Baldwin a reason to laugh.
