DJ Spinderella Rejoins Salt-N-Pepa on Tour Years After Being Fired

DJ Spinderella says she and her Salt-N-Pepa bandmates are in a better place. Deidra “DJ Spinderella” Roper shared the update about her new partnership with Planet Fitness and Apple Music. The DJ will soon be back on tour with Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton.

DJ Spinderella says her relationship with Salt-N-Pepa is in a good place

Roper said she and her bandmates are “in a good space today.” She added, “It’s a sisterhood, and sometimes it’s good, and sometimes it’s not so good.” Roper said they are now on the same page as they get ready for the Iconic Tour. “We’re about to go on tour,” she told PEOPLE.

Roper joined Salt-N-Pepa in 1987, but the group parted ways with her in 2019. She said the group fired her through an email and later sued James and Denton over unpaid royalties and other contract claims. The parties reached a confidential settlement after the case ended in July 2019. Roper also claimed in 2021 that she had been “wrongfully excluded” from the group’s Lifetime biopic.

Roper previously told Billboard that she’d only consider reuniting if she receives an apology. She stated that she wanted to be treated fairly and with respect if they ever get back together. Now, she will be joining Salt-N-Pepa once more on the North American Iconic Tour with TLC and special guests En Vogue. This is the first time in years she and the group will be touring together, Roper said.

Ahead of the shows, Roper said she is focusing on her mental and physical health. She said she is eating well and avoiding negative energy because she wants to enter the tour in a happy state. Roper also celebrated Salt-N-Pepa and DJ Spinderella’s induction into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame in February 2026. The group’s legacy is from years of hard work and music that inspired women, she said.

Roper is also working with Planet Fitness and Apple Music on a ’90s-themed summer partnership. She created an exclusive playlist for Planet Fitness’ official Apple Music Curator page. Roper said she hopes people enjoy music, as it can help change their mood and support them during working out. “I think music is a mood,” she told PEOPLE.
