Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison release date has changed once again, adding another twist to his ongoing legal saga. Federal prison records now show the music mogul will remain behind bars longer than previously expected following a reported altercation with another inmate.
The latest update comes after his projected release date shifted several times in recent months. Neither prison officials nor Combs’ representatives have explained the latest change.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Sean Combs is now scheduled for release on Feb. 20, 2028. That date replaces an earlier projected release of Jan. 24, 2028, which had appeared in federal prison records just weeks ago.
Reports linked the previous adjustment to a reported fight inside Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey, where Combs is serving his sentence.
According to TMZ, the confrontation started after another inmate allegedly disrespected Combs. The outlet reported that the rapper took “matters into his own hands” before prison staff broke up the fight.
Officials reportedly placed Combs in solitary confinement following the incident. A source also claimed he “held his own” during the altercation. The latest update, however, pushes his release back to February. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not explained why officials changed the date again.
The revised timeline marks another change in an already shifting schedule. His projected release originally fell during the summer of 2028 before moving to April, then February, then January, and now back to February.
Combs is serving a four-year sentence after a jury convicted him in October 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The court also imposed a $500,000 fine and ordered him to complete mental health and substance abuse programs.
During sentencing, Judge Arun Subramanian acknowledged Combs’ accomplishments but criticized his conduct. “You abused them, physically, emotionally and psychologically,” the judge said while discussing the victims. “Why did it happen for so long? Because you had the power and resources to keep it going.”
The jury acquitted Combs of sex trafficking and racketeering charges, which carried the possibility of a life sentence.
