Bruce Springsteen has provided an update on his wife Patti Scialfa’s health. The 76-year-old musician shared that his wife, who battled multiple myeloma for over eight years, is now in remission.

Springsteen made a virtual appearance at the Pan-Mass Challenge fundraiser in Massachusetts on July 31. The performer, during the event, which supports cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, said, “Since 1980, you have inspired a community that has done something remarkable.”
He added, as per HELLO! Magazine, “You’ve never stopped believing that ordinary people can make an extraordinary difference. And because of that, countless lives have been saved.” Springsteen then discussed his wife, a member of the E Street Band. He said she “has been living with her multiple myeloma for over eight years, but now thankfully she is in remission.”
He continued by saying, “However, like millions of families facing cancer, we’ve learned what every patient learns, [that] hope has a face. It’s our physician who refuses to stop searching and caring, [and] it’s our nurse who sits beside us when we’re scared and always makes our journey just a little bit easier.”
Springsteen added that his wife’s health journey changed the way he views medical research. He explained that it gives families hope during their most difficult moments. He said that his music has always honored people who keep believing through difficult times and those who stand by others. He further stated that this spirit represents “the best of America” to him and his wife.
The 20-time Grammy winner first revealed his wife’s diagnosis in the October 2024 documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. In that, he revealed that Scialfa received her diagnosis in 2018, reports People. Springsteen and Scialfa married on June 9, 1991, and have three children together: Evan, 36, Jessica, 34, and Samuel, 32.
