Kandi Burruss made it crystal clear that her feud with Tamar Braxton hasn’t cooled down despite recent claims of peace. The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star addressed the drama head-on after an awkward run-in at Essence Festival reignited years of tension.
The latest chapter unfolded after Braxton insisted she held no grudge against Burruss. Kandi quickly pushed back and explained why she refused to play nice for the cameras.
Kandi explains her long-running feud with Tamar remains unresolved
Speaking on her Speak On It podcast, Kandi said she intentionally avoided pretending everything was fine when she saw Braxton during the Black Women in Music event at Essence Festival.
“I do not like that bch … she is a fake-ass bch to me,” Kandi said. She explained that she had no interest in acting cordial with someone she believed constantly criticized her.
Kandi also claimed the uncomfortable festival encounter wasn’t an isolated incident. She alleged Braxton called her the B-word while walking past her at an Atlanta party just days later.
According to The Jasmine Brand, Kandi previously commented beneath a repost of Braxton’s interview, writing, “No beef?.. but she was just calling me a b***h as she walked pass me at a party last Saturday. Can’t do the fake sh*t.”
Braxton had offered a very different version of events during a July 29 appearance on The Morning Hustle. “I don’t want beef in my life,” she said. “I really do enjoy my peace. I love my life.”
She explained that congratulating Kandi during the Essence event simply reflected good manners. “I said congratulations, and I went on about my business,” Braxton said. “I do not regret saying congratulations.”
Braxton also dismissed speculation surrounding the viral clip. “I think that whoever brought it to the internet wanted that kind of reaction,” she said. “I don’t have any beef with anybody other than the devil.”
Kandi, however, said she had already tried to move past their issues years ago. She now believes reconciliation isn’t worth pursuing. She also suggested Braxton receives the most attention whenever she discusses other celebrities.
For now, neither woman appears interested in changing her position. Braxton continues to insist she has moved on, while Kandi says she won’t fake a friendship simply to keep the peace.
Their long-running feud dates back to their days as R&B stars and resurfaced during their time on Celebrity Big Brother, where they revisited tensions from the 2017 Great Xscape Tour. Judging by Kandi’s latest comments, the rivalry is far from over.
