Jared Leto is facing allegations of sexual misconduct from multiple women regarding incidents reported between 2002 and 2016. Despite the claims, WME has expressed continued support for the 54-year-old performer.
WME says Jared Leto remains a client after a BBC report
Following the rise of the #MeToo movement in 2017, WME established a 20-member committee to assess sexual misconduct allegations involving clients and determine potential actions. The agency subsequently dropped several clients, including Brett Ratner and Armie Hammer.
The talent agency, which has represented the actor since 2018, confirmed to Page Six Hollywood that the Dallas Buyers Club actor remains a client. Asked whether the client advisory committee had launched a review into the serious sexual assault allegations reported in a BBC documentary, an agency spokesperson responded that it had not.
In the BBC documentary Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, the outlet interviewed 10 women. Five of them alleged that Leto made sexual phone calls to them, with four claiming they were teenagers when the alleged incidents occurred, reports ABC News.
There are allegations that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl in a motel bathroom and groomed a 16-year-old girl by making sexually explicit phone calls. Leto has been accused of statutory rape. The individual claims she was 17 when the alleged assault took place in California. According to the women, their reported encounters with Leto took place between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s, states the BBC.
However, Leto, who has appeared in films like Fight Club, Blade Runner 2049, Suicide Squad and, Masters of the Universe, has claimed, “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false”.
