Ghislaine Maxwell’s hopes for future clemency took another major hit after the U.S. Senate delivered a rare bipartisan message. Lawmakers unanimously approved a resolution opposing any presidential pardon or clemency for Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime associate.
The move came as questions continued surrounding Maxwell’s recent interactions with federal officials. Although symbolic, the resolution sent a clear political signal to the Trump administration.

According to The Hill, Sen. Jacky Rosen introduced the resolution to make clear that Congress opposed any effort to pardon Maxwell. “It’s frankly horrifying that Trump would entertain the idea of clemency for even a second for a convicted sex trafficker,” Rosen said on the Senate floor.
She also urged fellow lawmakers to back the measure. “If Republicans advance Todd Blanche’s nomination tomorrow in the Judiciary Committee, this is the least they can do to make their opposition to a Maxwell pardon clear,” Rosen added.
The Senate approved the resolution without objection through unanimous consent.
While the measure carries no legal force, it signals that both Republicans and Democrats oppose clemency for Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for helping Jeffrey Epstein recruit and abuse underage girls.
Maxwell currently remains incarcerated at Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas.
The debate followed renewed attention on acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. Last July, Blanche interviewed Maxwell over two days after granting her limited immunity to discuss her relationship with Epstein.
According to the report, Maxwell said she never witnessed President Donald Trump engage in improper conduct. She also reportedly said she could not recall whether she met him in 1990 because her late father, Robert Maxwell, knew Trump well.
During the interviews, Maxwell repeatedly referred to him as “President Trump” and praised his “extraordinary achievement” in winning the presidency, according to the outlet. Days after those meetings, officials transferred Maxwell from the low-security Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee to the minimum-security prison camp in Texas.
Blanche has publicly stated that he will not recommend clemency for Maxwell. However, Trump has not ruled out the possibility, while Maxwell’s attorney continues seeking a pardon.
Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking and conspiracy charges.
