Why Amelia Dimoldenberg Doesn’t Want Andy Burnham on Chicken Shop Date

Amelia Dimoldenberg knew exactly where she drew the line when fans suggested a surprise guest for Chicken Shop Date. The YouTube star revealed she wouldn’t invite UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham onto her hit dating series, even though she welcomed the idea of speaking with him elsewhere.

Her comments arrived as she reflected on more than a decade of internet success. She also opened up about mentoring young creatives through her growing media platform.

Amelia Dimoldenberg ruled out inviting Andy Burnham to her hit YouTube dating series

Speaking to the BBC, Dimoldenberg quickly dismissed the idea of Burnham appearing on Chicken Shop Date.

“I don’t think that maybe he’s my type for Chicken Shop Date,” she said.

The creator explained that politicians simply didn’t fit the show’s playful format. However, she supported Burnham’s reported interest in working with digital creators because many people now consumed news through social media.

“I don’t think it means he’s only going to be speaking to vloggers forever, really,” she told the outlet.

Dimoldenberg said she would “100% love to have a conversation with him” about youth unemployment instead. She also stressed that apprenticeships and training opportunities remained essential for young people entering creative careers.

“I think having more training schemes, apprenticeships is really, really vital in helping young people,” she said.

That mission inspired the launch of the Dimz Inc. Academy. The free summer program offered mentoring, guaranteed paid work placements, and digital media experience for people aged 18 to 24. It also returned for a second year after expanding from one week to four.

“I started Chicken Shop Date as part of a youth club,” Dimoldenberg recalled. She said the mentoring, opportunities, and connections she received helped build her career. “So it was always such a big ambition of mine to be able to give that back to young people when I was able to.”

She called the growing number of young people outside employment, education, or training “a big crisis.”

Away from the academy, Dimoldenberg continued expanding her career. The second season of Passenger Princess recently debuted, while she also balanced Oscar red carpets and her production company.

Before every celebrity interview, she carefully prepared her questions.

“[It’s] like you’re really studying for your A-levels again,” she said. “I make sure that I have specific questions for every single person that I might meet.”

Dimoldenberg also revealed she planned to act in a romantic comedy, direct more projects, and keep growing Chicken Shop Date. She added that neither politicians nor royals matched the show’s signature dating vibe.
