Tom Cruise has reportedly responded to his daughter Suri‘s decision of name change in the only way that seems to fit their relationship these days: silence. The famous actor’s relationship further turned sour with her daughter after Suri, 20, legally dropped “Cruise” from her last name. She now goes with Suri Noelle, her mother Katie Holmes‘ middle name.

According to a source who spoke with Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice blog, Cruise’s reaction to the news has been “complete silence”.
“Tom’s reaction has been almost nonexistent,” the source said, adding that he isn’t upset or attempting to reach out. “As far as Tom is concerned, this chapter of his life ended years ago.”
Suri formally changed her surname from “Cruise” to “Noelle,” according to voter registration records that showed she registered in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in October 2024. The move reflects an estrangement between the father and daughter that insiders say has existed since 2012. It was when Holmes left Cruise in 2012—Suri was then just 7 years old.
Sources also noted that Tom’s close ones have always known that the actor had accepted the differences long ago. “Tom compartmentalizes better than almost anyone,” an insider added. “His career has always been his priority. Once he believes something is beyond his control, he simply moves forward.”
As per Rob Shuter’s sources, Cruise has continued to meet the financial obligations outlined in his divorce settlement, including support for Suri till adulthood. Another source further added the name change was less a surprise and more a formality. “This wasn’t a shock,” the source said. “The legal name change simply caught up with the life they’ve already been living.”
