A longtime modeling recruiter linked to Jeffrey Epstein has died as investigators continue examining the late financier’s connections to the fashion industry. French authorities confirmed Daniel Siad, who introduced models to Epstein for years, died at his home outside Paris at age 69.
Authorities say the cause of death remains unknown pending an autopsy.
Authorities confirmed Daniel Siad was found dead in France at age 69
According to CNN, authorities found Siad dead Monday at his home in Colombes, a suburb of Paris. Deputy public prosecutor Marie-Céline Lawrysz confirmed his death and said an autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause.
Siad recently defended his relationship with Epstein during an interview with the outlet. “I trusted him and believed this guy was a professional person,” he said. He added, “I never heard anything from anyone I introduced to him who came back to me that they had a bad situation. I believed this guy is a professional person.”
Siad also claimed he believed Epstein worked as a casting director for Victoria’s Secret and the modeling agency MC2. CNN said its investigation found no evidence supporting those claims.
Justice Department records show Epstein paid Siad tens of thousands of dollars over the years. The documents also reveal Siad repeatedly introduced young women to Epstein. In one email, he wrote, “Cute French girl in Marrakesh… She said that she will (be) happy to meet you.”
The records included additional messages. In one 2018 email, Siad told Epstein he was searching for a “good looking young assistant.” Another exchange showed him sending a woman’s photo while describing her as “very polite” with “potential” as a “model” or “assistant.” Epstein reportedly replied, “Too old.”
The report also noted that Siad’s name appears more than 2,000 times in the Justice Department’s Epstein files. French prosecutors continue investigating Epstein’s ties to the modeling industry through a criminal inquiry that includes information connected to Siad.
Separate allegations also surrounded the model recruiter. Former Swedish model Ebba P. Karlsson accused Siad of raping her while she worked in France in 1990. He denied that allegation. Last month, investigators also connected a German model who disappeared nearly 11 years ago to the Epstein files after records allegedly showed contact with Siad.
Epstein died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. Investigations into his associates and professional network continue in several jurisdictions.
