Maura Higgins and Khloé Kardashian are among the celebrities embracing “Nun Girl Summer.” Many high-profile faces are joining the trend as it continues to gain momentum.
Why Maura Higgins, Khloé Kardashian, and more embrace celibacy and quitting dating apps
Soon after the Brat Summer trend, Nun Girl Summer is gaining traction. The trend requires individuals to give up sex. It started after Charli XCX released her new album. Along with embracing celibacy, Khloé Kardashian and other celebrities have been actively ditching dating apps, according to The Sun.
This trend gained momentum after an open mic podcast hosted by the Dominican sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, promoted “mindfulness over men.”
The trend encourages women to step away from casual relationships and dating apps, while prioritizing personal growth and well-being. Some took it far enough to book a stay in a nunnery. “Nuntok,” a popular monastery, reportedly has a waiting list as women globally are booking spots for retreats to maintain celibacy.
Higgins, who was previously on a dating show, has been celibate for a year and a half. In an interview, she said, “I don’t want to bring just anyone into my energy. It wasn’t even a plan to be celibate. I didn’t put a timeline on it. I wanted to focus on me, my career, and my energy. Now that it’s been over a year, I don’t even think of men.”
Last year, according to People, Kardashian revealed that she had been maintaining celibacy for three years. She mentioned she does not miss love in her life and does not want to worry about whether a guy will text her back or not. Julia Fox also revealed she has been celibate for three years after she realized she needed a change in her life.
The “Nun Girl Summer” trend is rapidly gaining attention as women and celebrities want to focus on their personal growth.
