Taylor Swift Wedding Faces Backlash as MSG Businesses Fear Losing Thousands: ‘Work With Us’

O’Brien’s Bar & Grill owner Michael O’Brien has told a news outlet that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s huge wedding at Madison Square Garden has led to losses for them.

The establishment, which is located on 31st Street, directly across from the wedding venue, is suffering because of the stonewalling and barricading done by extensive security for the rumoured wedding on July 3.

Businesses near Madison Square Garden say security restrictions could cost them a busy holiday weekend

“You’ve wronged us, make it right,” Michael O’Brien exclusively told Us Weekly about the A-list couple on Thursday, July 2.

According to US Magazine, the establishment stands empty on what would ideally have been a bustling weekend amid the FIFA World Cup 2026. The area has been largely barricaded and crawling with law enforcement since Thursday, due to the rumoured rehearsal dinner hosted by the couple in the Infosys Theatre within the MSG premises.

The owner said, “We’ve reached out to the city, the mayor’s office, NYPD, Travis Kelce’s PR team, Taylor Swift’s management company, I believe owned by her family or run by her family,” adding, “Travis and Taylor stonewalled [us]. No replies to emails or phone calls or messages left.”

O’Brien further said that he had been looking forward to working together with the A-List but has received no answer to his proposition. “We offered the place for their people, for their guests, for their staff as a place to relax, hang out,” he said. “Maybe the staff wants to eat [or] cater a private event while their event is on across the street; staff that works for them, road crew, whatever.” He added in a sincere appeal, “Work with us, talk to us.”

As the wedding arrangements reach a feverish pitch, business owners like Michael O’Brien may be facing the brunt of the A-List nuptials.

DO YOU THINK SWIFT AND KELCE SHOULD HAVE WORKED OUT A DEAL WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT?
