Ariana Grande was photographed spending time with her ex, Ricky Alvarez. This comes just weeks after the 33-year-old Grammy-winning singer split from Ethan Slater following nearly three years together.

According to Elle, the pair was seen together on June 26, the singer’s 33rd birthday, in Austin, Texas, before her Eternal Sunshine Tour performance. A source told People, “They’ve been hanging out recently.” Grande dated Alvarez from 2015 to July 2016.
The outing raised eyebrows, especially since Grande, who is set to release her upcoming album Petal on July 31, has been updating lyrics about her ex during performances on her Eternal Sunshine tour, reports BuzzFeed. Just two nights before they were spotted together, she changed the lyrics to her 2018 hit Thank U, Next from “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh” to “Wrote some songs about Ricky / And they still kinda slap.” During her birthday concert, she once more altered the line, singing, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / I know he’s still got my back.”
Grande and Slater, who met on the set of Wicked and went public with their relationship in July 2023 after her split from Dalton Gomez, reportedly ended their relationship amicably several months before the news became public. A source told People that the split was mutual and carefully considered, adding, “They are still friends and very supportive of one another. They have been quietly broken up for several months.”
On the other hand, Alvarez and Grande first met in 2014, when he became her backup dancer. He appeared in live performances and music videos for songs including Problem and Santa Tell Me, states The Hollywood Life. Despite ending their relationship in 2016, Alvarez and Grande have continued to be friends.
