Alpert and her husband, Mason Trueblood, told her followers that she faced a difficult period of her life during the second trimester. She posted a carousel with pictures, videos, and notes explaining that they received devastating news while sharing about her pregnancy with family and friends.
They received a short phone call telling them that the baby was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder. The baby was not going to make it to full term. She further explained that it was hard to swallow the details as the doctor was pointing to the ultrasound showing fluids and organs.
Though she did not explain the condition in detail, she said, “My husband and I tried so hard to savor Christmas Eve, and Christmas with our baby boy, fighting through the grief each day. … Mason and I desperately prayed for either a miracle or a miscarriage. Never had that on my bingo card. Still feels unreal.”
She and her husband made the difficult decision after doctors recommended terminating the pregnancy quickly. She added that the abortion took place days later in December, after she was throwing up from grief and trauma.
In her caption, 9-1-1 actress said, “I’m sharing this for the woman who may be in the situation I was in not long ago. The one who just had her heart shattered. The one who is frantically looking for a reason why. For a result. For a fix. For an explanation. For a friend. I’m sharing to let her know one simple thing that I hope can offer her so much comfort. You are not alone.
By opening up about her experience, Alpert sought to reach women who face similar loss during pregnancy.
