Billionaire Tyler Perry finds himself in a spot of bother as a new court motion has been brought on by his male assault accuser, Mario Rodriguez, who has filed new claims accusing the Hollywood mogul of avoiding a mandatory deposition, which may ask questions about his personal sexuality.
Rodriguez is reportedly asking the judge to issue a no-compromise deposition for the filmmaker, compelling him to attend a deposition. Rodriguez also wishes to impose $7,000 in monetary sanctions, claiming Perry failed to appear for multiple scheduled dates since April.
Tyler Perry’s accuser Mario Rodriguez claims the actor refuses to sit for a deposition
In a serious allegation brought against Rodriguez, he says that the filmmaker has agreed to appear for a deposition only if the opposition agrees to his terms. According to the plaintiff, Perry has demanded that both sides sign a legally binding statement that shields Perry from any questions regarding his sexual attraction for men. Perry has accused the defendants’ questioning of being unnecessary and part of a witch hunt. However, Rodriguez and his team insist that Perry’s sexuality is critical to the $77 million civil lawsuit.
Alex Spiro, Perry’s attorney, has come back with a swift response, saying that the allegations were baseless and merely a publicity stunt. As we said from the outset, this is a shakedown and now a shakedown and a frivolous motion,” Spiro told a news outlet “Tyler did not fail to appear for a deposition nor refuse any line of questioning. We will seek sanctions.”
Rodriguez had a small role in Perry’s 2016 film ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’. He seeks $77 million, alleging unwanted sexual advances and assaults. Rodriguez filed his lawsuit in December 2025. Perry denied these charges as well, labeling the suit a “money grab”.
Before Rodriguez, actor Derek Dixon filed a $260 million lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court in June 2025. Dixon said he had to face repeated groping. This caused him severe depression, anxiety, stomach issues, nausea, and PTSD.
