Taylor Swift’s Chance at EGOT Status Just Spiked up With New Project

Taylor Swift’s original song “I Knew It, I Knew You” for Disney and Pixar’s highly anticipated movie, “Toy Story 5,” has increased her chances for EGOT status. It is an acronym for someone who has won all four major entertainment awards: an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. While the singer has won in two categories, many speculate that with this movie, the pop icon has a chance of winning the Oscars as well as the Tony Award, finally joining the EGOT club.

Taylor Swift’s brand new single for ‘Toy Story 5’ increases her chance at the famed EGOT status

Taylor Swift took everyone by surprise when she announced that her “new original song “I Knew It, I Knew You”” for Disney and @pixar’s @toystory 5 will be yours on June 5th,” on her Instagram post. She mentioned that she “fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening.”

After this announcement, many are speculating that Swift might get the famed EGOT status. So far, fewer than 30 members have earned Hollywood’s highest honor, including Richard Rodgers, Steven Spielberg, Elton John, Viola Davis, John Legend, Audrey Hepburn, and Whoopi Goldberg, among others.

As of now, Swift is halfway to achieving EGOT status. She has 14 Grammy Awards to her name and one Emmy Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media for her AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience. But with “Toy Story 5,” many think she might win the Oscar for Best Original Song.

And although the Tony Awards recognize excellence in live Broadway theatre, the pop icon could try for Best Original Score, per Newsweek, to get the EGOT status. Nominations for the 99th Academy Awards will be announced in January 2027, while the Tony nominations will be released in May.
