Vice President J.D. Vance has denied the claims that he has been isolated from President Donald Trump‘s inner circle. This comes as Vance’s potential 2028 presidential bid faces scrutiny following the resignation of national intelligence director Tulsi Gabbard, whose last day will be June 30, 2026.
J.D. Vance’s team is strongly denying any reports of White House isolation
Gabbard announced her exit from the Trump administration, citing her husband’s diagnosis with bone cancer. The departure comes amid speculation about tensions with Trump following his Feb. 28 strike on Iran.
Vance, a Yale Law graduate, reportedly lost what insiders called his “most senior non-interventionist ally,” according to the Daily Mail. A source close to the president told the outlet, ‘Vance is a non-event in the West Wing.”
As J.D. Vance’s influence has declined, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has strengthened his position. He has been a diplomat serving since 2025. The 54-year-old is also the acting National Security Advisor and a member of the Republican Party.
A White House insider was quoted by The Daily Mail as saying, “Rubio has more mojo than Vance. The President listens to him. Vance is out of step and has been for a long time.” Another source close to Vance said, “Anyone who wants to be a viable nominee for president has a very small window. And if you don’t go when that window is open, most likely it never opens up again.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Vance said, “This story is just a flimsy compilation of completely illegitimate sources who have no idea what they’re talking about.”
Gabbard’s exit marks the second major ally of J.D. Vance linked to opposition to the war to leave their post. The March resignation of Joe Kent from the National Counterterrorism Center further weakened Vance’s stance.
