Glee actress Lea Michele is facing challenges to secure a good role in Hollywood despite her early success. A source revealed this is due to the 39-year-old’s problematic conduct and alleged mean-girl behavior.
Former Glee star Lea Michele is still facing backlash from previous alleged micro-aggressions and mean-girl behavior
Talking to RadarOnline, a source said, “Lea has star quality and real talent as an actress and a singer, but sadly for her, she has very little support within the television business that made her famous in the first place.”
Speaking about Michele’s current situation, who starred in Chess on Broadway, the source told the outlet, “Hollywood just doesn’t have a lot of room for old-school divas anymore when the focus, especially in TV and streaming, is on cramming as much work into every day as possible. The actors who are thriving in TV right now are people like Noah Wyle and Kathy Bates, who are down-to-earth and famously easy to work with.”
In 2020, Michele, who played Rachel Berry throughout all six seasons of Glee, was accused of making the life of Samantha Marie Ware, one of her castmates, a “living hell” due to “traumatic microaggressions”, according to Variety. Another co-star, Heather Morris, admitted that Michele was “unpleasant to work with”, as reported by People.
However, Michele apologised to Ware via an Instagram post the same year and wrote, “One of the most important lessons of the last few weeks is that we need to take the time to listen and learn about other people’s perspectives and any role we have played or anything we can do to help address the injustices that they face.”
She then added, “Whether it was my privileged position and perspective that caused me to be perceived as insensitive or inappropriate at times, or whether it was just my immaturity and me just being unnecessarily difficult, I apologize for my behavior and for any pain which I have caused.”
