Despite all sanity and expectations, Donald Trump has a commanding lead in the Republican polls. Everyone assumed that his Presidential campaign would quickly implode, and yet his verbal gaffes only seem to inspire more people to rally around him. Itâs to face a sobering truth: Trump has a legitimate chance of winning the Presidency if he wins the Iowa caucuses tomorrow and if manages to become the Republican nominee for our nationâs highest office.
Even skipping last weekâs Republican debate seems to have worked out in Trumpâs favor. He avoided his nemesis, Megyn Kelly and essentially got to enjoy watching his rivals tear down Ted Cruz for him. If that was Trumpâs plan all along, no one can say that it didnât work.
With Fox News suddenly without a Trump card, Stephen Colbert came up with a mock ratings stunt for The Late Show: a Donald Trump vs. Donald Trump debate! Or as he called it, âThe 2016 Top Tremendous All-You-Can Trump Luxury Presidential Debate.â
Trump has flip-flopped on his positions so many times that Colbert and his writers and editors were essentially able to pit Trump against himselfâŚto hilarious results!
Before your very eyes, âDonaldâ will praise Hilary Clinton and Ted Cruz before âTrumpâ ruthlessly cuts them down. Even Kelly used to get encouraging words from âDonald,â but âTrumpâ canât stop insulting her. Colbert dubbed the two sides of Trump âDump,â and that seems like a nickname that should stick.Â
Most of Trumpâs supporters seem to be drawn to his angry rhetoric without noticing that he has often changed positions on a dime. If nothing else, this video demonstrates that Trump will say anything if it suits him in the moment. Also, it has to be said that Colbertâs final video quote used for âTrumpâ is brutalâŚbut it is something that Trump has repeatedly said!
