‘Mad Men’ Producers Bring ‘DMZ’ To Syfy

In 2012, Brian Wood’s DC Comics/Vertigo series, “DMZ” came to an end after a 72 issue run. But “DMZ” may soon live again on television.

Deadline is reporting that Syfy has placed a “DMZ” adaptation in development based upon the comic book by Wood and artist Riccardo Burchiell. Originally published in 2005, “DMZ” centered around Matty Roth, a young journalist embedded in the demilitarized zone of Manhattan during a second American Civil War in the near future.

The potential “DMZ” TV series is being executive produced by Andre and Maria Jacquemetton, both of whom previously collaborated on “Mad Men” for AMC. Warner Bros. TV is also producing “DMZ” through Warner Horizon. Gravity producer David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford are also attached to “DMZ” as executive producers.

If “DMZ” is ordered to series, it will likely debut on Syfy in 2015.
