How King Charles Helped Grieving Prince Harry After Princess Diana’s Death — Report

King Charles came up with a unique idea to help Prince Harry after Princess Diana’s death. The Duke of Sussex was young and grieving at the time, so his father decided to introduce him to someone. He was Geoffrey Kent, who took the prince on an adventurous trip to distract him from his sorrow. For those unversed, Diana passed away in a car accident in 1997. At the time, Prince William was 15 years old, and Harry turned 13 a month after losing his mom.

King Charles reportedly arranged for Geoffrey Kent to take Prince Harry on a trip to Botswana

King Charles reportedly asked Geoffrey Kent’s help to distract Prince Harry from his grief after Princess Diana’s death. The 84-year-old exclusively told PEOPLE that he took the then-young prince on an adventure. They went to Botswana and had adrenaline-filled activities.

According to Kent, he planned the itinerary so he could keep Harry’s mind occupied. From riding helicopters without doors to meeting various kinds of animals, Harry seemed to enjoy the distraction. The trip might have stayed with him for a long time as he returned to the southern African country 20 years later with his then-girlfriend, Meghan Markle.

Meanwhile, Kent recalled the old days and said, “We did all the crazy things that I would have done — swoop low, see hippos in the water. Seatbelts on, all the doors off, you see everything rushing by. It was an amazing few days. We were only there for a short time, but I think it remained with him forever.”

The duo went with a small group and mentioned to the outlet that his main focus was to distract Harry from his sorrow. “Not that you can take your mind off it, but maybe fill it with other things,” Furthermore, he noted that the Duke reportedly experienced “some somber moments” during their trip. Despite that, Harry was seemingly in “awe of everything” since Kent “had every minute filled.”
